The Revival were finally granted their releases from WWE earlier this month, but before they got out, Vince McMahon reportedly wanted to give them a comedy gimmick and insane-looking gear.
A report by Bodyslam.net that was later confirmed by Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp says that Vince McMahon personally handed The Revival the following almost unbelievable mockups with his vision for their new looks.

The idea was to repackage them with new gear, new music, and a new comedy gimmick. It’s not known if The Revival refused or if Vince changed his mind, but WWE eventually stopped using The Revival soon after they asked for their releases again in January, sending them home without pay.
It was previously reported by Dave Meltzer that WWE planned to give them a comedy gimmick where they would mimic tag teams of the past, which was meant as a way to bury them on their way out, but that plan was scrapped. It’s not clear if the ring gear in the photos above was part of that same idea. WWE has previously tried to bury The Revival with angles where they’re caught shaving each other’s backs and getting Icy Hot in their trunks, presumably as retaliation for asking for their releases and/or refusing to re-sign with the company.
On a related note, Cash Wheeler, the former Dash Wilder, posted this video with The Revival’s likely new team name, FTR or “Fear the Revolt.”
