NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver Post-Show Media Calls

Triple H held two NXT TakeOver post-show media calls following this past Wednesday and Thursday’s TakeOver: Stand & Deliver events. Both post-show media calls featured Triple H and Shawn Michaels as the host speakers.

Highlights from NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver Night 1 post-show media call on April 7th:

  • Both Triple H and Shawn Michaels praised Io Shirai and Raquel Gonzalez for their work in NXT and their potential as future big stars for the company.
  • In regards to Shirai’s future in NXT, Triple H stated that he currently does not know while Michaels questioned why she would want to leave the “best women’s division in the world” to go elsewhere instead.
  • Triple H stated that WALTER will be leaving the United States and heading back to his home in Europe and resume working for the NXT UK brand. He also stated that he would love for WALTER to come back to NXT whenever possible.
  • In regards to the reports of last week’s talent meeting, Triple H stated that it was no different than the usual meetings he has with NXT talent. He also stated that “as far as the content of the meeting that was reported by a lot of people and elsewhere, completely inaccurate. Never said, never brought up, nobody else was ever brought up, nothing about other people, wasn’t about other brands or companies or anything else. It was a factual meeting to tell people where we’re going, where we’re headed and to motivate them going into the future. Nothing more nothing less.”

Highlights from NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver Night 2 post-show media call on April 8th:

  • Triple H praised all of the matches on Night 2’s show and stated that the Unsanctioned match between Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly was a “master class in storytelling.” He also stated that both Cole and O’Reilly were sent to the hospital after the show for medical checkups.
  • Triple H also stated that the feud between Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly is not over and their match at TakeOver was just another chapter in their current storyline saga.
  • Triple H provided an update on the health of “Road Dogg” Brian James stating that he is currently resting and recovering at his home following his heart attack scare incident last week.
  • Triple H stated that he is currently unsure if NXT will do another two-night TakeOver event next year or in the future. He stated that it felt the right time to do one this year due to WrestleMania 37 also being a two-night event.
  • On the topic of collegiate wrestler Gable Steveson being shown in the crowd during the show and his current status with WWE, Triple H stated that “Gable came here tonight. He enjoyed the show as a guest. He had his dad with him. He just won the NCAA championships and the national championships and obviously, qualified for the Olympics. That is a big task at hand, so… He’s a huge fan of what we do. we’ve been talking for a long time. He wanted to come out here, see TakeOver, see WrestleMania, and we’ll see where it goes. I would hate to say to a guy who is a junior in college, ‘Let’s make some decisions at the moment why you’re trying to get ready for the Olympics.’ Let’s focus on one thing at a time. He’s got a bright future and anything that he decides to do but he’s a massive fan of what we do. I am a massive fan, as we all are, of what he can bring to the table here, and if he does make the decision to come here and want to become a WWE Superstar, man, I have no doubt that he will do it, do it in record time and be amazing at it.”
