Velveteen Dream, real name Patrick Clark, was released by WWE at around 4PM ET today, PWInsider reported.
Clark had been with the company since October of 2015 and debuted his Velveteen Dream persona in May of 2017.
Outside of the ring, Dream was among those accused of sexual impropriety within the wrestling industry as part of the Speaking Out movement in June of 2020. Dream was alleged to have sent illicit photos and messages to minors, which he denied doing and Triple H later stated in an interview with CBS Sports that WWE’s investigation into the matter did not find anything.
WWE also released six other wrestlers and two referees from NXT on Wednesday. Among those released was Drake Wuertz who had been involved in a series of controversial incidents during the past year.
