WWE: 2021 Saudi Event Update, Keith Lee Update, Full Schedule of Events for Rest of 2021

WWE Saudi 2021 Event Status Update

As noted before, WWE has been working on plans to potentially hold their next event in Saudi Arabia during the month of October. One date being considered for the event was rumored to be October 21st.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources within the company confirmed that the event is currently scheduled to take place on October 21st.

Johnson reported that this event is also currently planned to be called Crown Jewel 2021 and will be taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Johnson also reported that WWE officials had made the decision on the official date for this upcoming event last week. WWE officials also reportedly had considered the idea of holding this event on November 4th instead but dropped the idea in the end.

Reason Why Keith Lee Recently Has Been Working in Dark Matches

For the past several weeks, WWE has been inviting talent from their NXT brand for dark match tryouts prior to the start of their RAW and SmackDown branded shows. Besides NXT talent, Keith Lee has also been competing in dark matches for the company.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources within the company stated that the reason why Lee has been working dark matches with NXT talent is due to WWE officials wanting Lee to refine his ring work. WWE officials reportedly are also using these dark matches for Lee to decide what works the best for him going forward.

WWE Announces Full Schedule of Events for Remainder of 2021

WWE recently announced their full schedule of events for the remainder of this year with the exception of this year’s expected Saudi event.

In regards to the unannounced pay-per-event on October 12th in Chicago, Illinois, PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that it will likely be this year’s TLC event due to TLC traditionally is usually WWE’s last major ppv event of the year.
