Various: Contract Status for Several ROH Talents, Saturday’s NJPW Strong Card, Indies

ROH Contract Status of Jonathan Gresham, Dalton Castle, & Silas Young

As noted before, Ring of Honor announced last month that they will be going on a hiatus following the end of their Final Battle 2021 event this December. As part of this upcoming hiatus, the company will be making major changes to their business operations and will be releasing all of their talent in two phases, the first being at the end of this year and the other being on March 31, 2022.

During a recent interview with PWInsider, Jonathan Gresham revealed that his contract with ROH expires this December. Gresham stated:

“My thoughts is that it sucks and I’m sad that it had to come to this. The reasons why I do not know, that wasn’t discussed with me. But my heart goes out to a lot of the boys that were relying on this, as well as myself, the salaries that we were getting. These monthly paychecks that we were getting, and now just abruptly it’s over. Mine ends in December that’s the last check that I will get from Sinclair and Ring of Honor. And it’s putting me in a different mindset. And the one thing it has done for me, I’m hoping that it did the same with other guys, but it lit a fire up under me.  I’d gotten really comfortable. I had stopped grinding for a little while like I used to while I was traveling all over the world and wrestling pretty much anybody. And I was okay with doing that for some reason because I was getting this amount of money every month. But now that it’s gone, I have the fire again. And I feel like I would enjoy wrestling even more now that I don’t have this paycheck coming in every month from Ring of Honor. So that’s just the way I’m taking it. My heart just goes out to the boys that have mortgages and families and things of that nature. So, that’s where my heart is at the moment.”

During a recent interview with The Gentleman’s Club podcast, Dalton Castle revealed that he is also among the ROH talent whose contracts expire at the end of this year. Castle stated:

“I only have two months left on my contract before I’m completely fired. Ring of Honor is giving us all the boot at the end of the year.”

Besides Gresham and Castle, Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Silas Young’s contract with ROH also expires at the end of this year. Young reportedly had been seen backstage at Impact Wrestling’s recent tapings in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was reported that it is currently not known if Young was only visiting or if he was in talks with Impact officials for a potential contract with the company.
