More on WWE NXT Viewership for July 5th

The July 5th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a large increase in key demographic rankings, a small increase in overall viewership, and a slight increase in key demographic ratings. This week’s episode was notable for being the Great American Bash 2022 themed special.

NXT drew 593,000 viewers and a 0.12 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 27th place.

Detailed viewership and key demographic breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for NXT’s increases this week was due to gains from their older key demographic viewership group, which was up 5.9% compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that while both NXT’s Teenagers and younger key demographic viewership group numbers were equal, NXT’s Over 50 group was up 3% compared to last week’s show as another reason for the overall increases.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLB game of Tampa Bay Rays vs. Boston Red Sox drew 267,000 viewers on TBS, Little People, Big World drew 1.417,000 viewers on TLC, and Deadliest Catch drew 894,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 149,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 97,000 male viewers and 52,000 female viewers.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 8.7% in overall viewership and down 35.8% in key demographic viewership.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for July 6th

The July 6th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a small decline in overall viewership.

AEW drew 979,000 viewers and a 0.36 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 1st place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s decline that week was due to the decline from their older male key demographic viewership group, which was down 18.2% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly was enough to offset the large gains from their younger female key demographic viewership group, which was up 50.7% compared to last week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to AEW’s Over 50 viewership group was down 9.5% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLB game of St. Louis Cardinals vs. Atlanta Braves drew 1,104,000 viewers on ESPN, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,138,000 viewers on Bravo, and Real Housewives of Dubai drew 495,000 viewers on Bravo.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 475,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was up 11.5%, Females 18-34 was up 50.7%, Males 35-49 was down 18.2%, and Females 35-49 was up 2.5% compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that due to the very large increase in female viewers, AEW’s male/female viewership split of 40% for females this week was the largest ever female skew for an AEW show in AEW history.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, two out of AEW’s eight quarters averaged one million or more viewers. AEW’s quarter peak was at 1,121,000 viewers for their first quarter and their quarter low point was at 899,000 viewers for their seventh quarter.

In an interesting note, Meltzer reported that AEW managed to top this past Monday’s WWE RAW show and last week’s SmackDown show in Females 18-34. AEW also reportedly managed to top RAW in overall 18-34, Males 18-49, and Males 35-49. AEW reportedly had 194,000 viewers for overall 18-34, 285,000 viewers for overall Males 18-49, and 198,000 viewers for Males 35-49. RAW reportedly had 180,000 viewers for overall 18-34, 280,000 viewers for Males 18-49, and 189,000 viewers for Males 35-49 for comparisons.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was up 12.4% in overall viewership and up 12.6% in key demographic viewership.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 1,121,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the AEW Interim World Championship match of Brody King vs. Jon Moxley which gained 81,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the Tony Nese, Mark Sterling, & Keith Lee backstage segment, the Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, & Matt Hardy promo segment, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker video promo segment, and the Jake Hager & Claudio Castagnoli backstage interview segment which lost 103,000 viewers.


More on AEW Rampage Viewership for July 1st

The July 1st episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership and key demographic rankings and a small increase in key demographic ratings.

AEW Rampage drew 486,000 viewers and a 0.16 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 3rd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to the very large gains from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was up 100% compared to the prior week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to the higher than usual Females 12-34 viewership which managed to top AEW’s Males 12-34 group viewership.

In terms of head-to-head competition, 90 Day Fiance First Look drew 768,000 viewers on TLC.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 208,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was at 27,000 viewers, Females 18-34 was at 28,000 viewers, Males 35-49 was at 104,000 viewers, and Females 35-49 was at 77,000 viewers. While Rampage’s ranking was not mentioned, Meltzer reported that week’s Dynamite show was the third youngest skewing sports show for the week, only behind two UFC prelims.

AEW Rampage started off with around 510,000 viewers and had around 519,000 viewers for its second quarter, around 449,000 viewers for its third quarter, and around 466,000 viewers for its main event quarter featuring the Toni Storm vs. Nyla Rose match.
