More on WWE NXT Viewership for July 19th

The July 19th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a slight increase in overall viewership and a small increase in key demographic ratings but suffered a slight decline in key demographic ratings.

NXT drew 588,000 viewers and a 0.13 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 14th place.

Detailed viewership and key demographic breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for NXT’s mixed results were due to the large declines from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 25% compared to last week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to the large decline from their females key demographic viewership group, which was down 33% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset most of the gains from their older key demographic viewership and Over 50 viewership groups, which were up 6.3% each compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLB All-Star 2022 game drew 7,507,000 viewers on FOX, Little People, Big World drew 1,611,000 viewers on TLC, and Deadliest Catch drew 803,000 on Discovery Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 162,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 123,000 male viewers and 39,000 female viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female split of 75.9% in favor of males was one of the highest ever in NXT history.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 17.1% in overall viewership and down 36% in key demographic viewership.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for July 20th

The July 20th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a large decline in overall viewership. This week’s show was notable for being the Fyter Fest 2022 Week 2 themed special.

AEW drew 910,000 viewers and a 0.32 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 1st place.

Detailed viewership and key demographic breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason was due to an issue at Nielsen that caused a delay in the release of their ratings report and demo and quarter-hour breakdowns for that night’s television shows.

Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s decline this week was due the large declines from their Teenagers and younger key demographic viewership groups, which were down 23.1% and 14.4% compared to last week’s show. Specifically, AEW’s Males 12-34 viewership was lower than usual which Meltzer reported was the third week in a row where AEW’s Females 12-34 viewership topped their Males 12-34 viewership. This reportedly offset the large gains from their older key demographic viewership group, which was up 14.1% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the ESPYS 2022 Awards drew 2,498,000 viewers on ABC, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,057,000 viewers on Bravo, and Real Housewives of Dubai drew 533,000 viewers on Bravo.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 424,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 273,000 male viewers and 153,000 female viewers.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 20.7% in overall viewership and down 26.3% in key demographic viewership.


More on AEW Rampage Viewership for July 15th

The July 15th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a slight increase in overall viewership but suffered slight declines in key demographic rankings and key demographic ratings. That week’s show was notable for being the Fyter Fest 2022 Week 1 themed special.

AEW Rampage drew 435,000 viewers and a 0.14 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 11th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s mixed results that week was due to the large declines from their Teenagers and younger key demographic viewership groups, which were down 62.5% and 25% respectively compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the gains from their Over 50 viewership group, which was up 5.3% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLB simulcast games of Boston vs. New York Yankees and Kansas City vs. Toronto drew 432,000 viewers on MLB Network, the Top Rank Boxing event of Barboza Jr. vs. Zorilla drew 413,000 viewers on ESPN, and 90 Day Fiance First Look drew 726,000 viewers on TLC.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 183,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that that week’s Rampage show did not chart in the Top 10 youngest skewing sports show for the week while that week’s Dynamite show was the sixth youngest skewing sports show, behind four NBA Summer League games and one UFC Prelims.
