AEW reportedly generated a 0.26 rating in overall 18-34 compared to SmackDown’s 0.25 rating. Meltzer reported that this was something that should not have been possible due to the big advantage SmackDown has being on a network channel over Dynamite.

  • During a recent interview with the WWE After The Bell with Corey Graves podcast, Zoey Stark revealed that she worked as a backstage producer for WWE while she was out of action due to a foot-related injury. Stark also gave her thoughts on why she decided to accept a backstage role while rehabbing from her injury. Stark stated “To become a better performer, number one. I knew I was going to come back and I knew producing is going to help me inside the ring. When you coach somebody, two people are learning. I’m learning at the same time because now I’m having to think about it. It’s amazing to be able to do both sides. You get a different side of, ‘Oh, this is what producers go through, I had no idea.’ People want to go off and do their own thing and it throws off the producer, it throws off the camera guys, it throws off everyone. You have to be in full communication with everyone. We’re all a team in this. You can’t just go rogue and do your own thing. We need to help each other. We all have the same goal. We all want to have a great match and tell a story.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

AEW & ROH

  • As noted before, Kris Statlander recently suffered a knee injury and was pulled from her #1 ranking for Thunder Rosa’s AEW Women’s World Championship. Statlander recently provided an injury update on Instagram stating that she completely torn the ACL and lateral meniscus in her right knee and is currently undergoing strength training to help lessen post-operative atrophy issues. Statlander stated “Going slightly off program here but the main focus now is maintaining as much strength as possible to lessen post op atrophy. If you want to yell at me for pushing my self while injured remember it’s free to mind your business. I’m taking extra precautions to make sure I’m stable through all movements, using lighter weights with every rep controlled, making sure I don’t reach any uncomfortable ROM [range of motion] or recreate any pain. Most will take a time like this to lose sight of their goals, and I’m sure I’ll reflect on what could’ve been had I not been injured. But I know my moment in my wrestling career will come, not yet, but soon. I’ll come back stronger than before just like last time. It’s not a setback unless you allow it to be.

Meltzer also reported that his sources stated that AEW and WBD officials have been in recent talks regarding ideas to hold more more cross-promotional shows for Dynamite with next week’s House of Dragon sponsored show being one of those ideas. Meltzer also reported that despite AEW’s good ratings for WBD, the biggest question still remains on how much of an increase they could get with a new television deal from WBD considering the massive cost cutting measures currently underway by Discovery following their merger. • During a recent interview with the Superstar Crossover podcast, AEW CEO Tony Khan gave his thoughts about WWE’s recent shows generally being better than what they were before and why that is good for wrestling fans. Khan stated “The challenge would be, and I’d like to say something positive on the end too, the challenge would be is that we’re more likely to compete for the same wrestlers because our vision of wrestling is probably a bit closer together than with his predecessor. I do think there are a lot of advantages. The shows they’ve been doing are generally better than the shows they were doing before the change, which is good for the wrestling business. It’s a little bit different than what we were going up against before. In terms of me being the CEO of AEW, I see some positives and some negatives, but I see a lot of positives. There are a lot reasons why it could drive some interest in wrestling and people coming back to watch more wrestling and those people are inherently going to most likely also check out AEW. If you’ve been away from wrestling and you’re a big fan of it, then there’s a good chance you’re very familiar with a lot of the top stars of AEW, including the world champion CM Punk, the interim champion Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, Bryan Danielson, and many others. Somebody stepping back in and watching wrestling again would have a lot of interest in that. Frankly, if you’re interested in good wrestling shows, those are people you’re going to be interested in checking out. There are a lot of interesting possibilities for the future. Sure, it poses some challenges, but I think there are a lot of positive things happening in wrestling right now.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

Khan stated “[Death Before Dishonor] was the first time Warner Bros. Discovery worked with Ring of Honor because Bleacher Report carried the pay-per-view. It did some of the best numbers in the history of Ring of Honor. For Bleacher Report, I think it exceeded their expectations. They’ve seen there is interest in Ring of Honor, so that’s very exciting. They were the media partner that helped launch AEW into the world. If there ever were to be a weekly Ring of Honor show, I’d love to have them be involved in it. Hopefully, that is something that will happen someday. Only with their blessing, I think it would make a lot of sense. Now we’ve seen Ring of Honor is very viable on pay-per-view. They are going to have a very strong future in the world of wrestling going forward.

So there’s a hundred and something songs just sitting down there waiting for somebody to use them. That was owned by Turner. WCW has them, but when Vince bought all the tapes up here in WWE, they didn’t get the rights to the music. They’re all individual tracks that, I guess, if anybody wanted to use them, if Turner and them even have a publishing company,” Jimmy continued. “Who knows what they have down there?” It was reported that their sources stated that AEW and their music department have recently become aware of Hart’s claims over this situation.
