Charlotte Flair on Sasha Banks Walkout: “I Can’t Imagine Never Wrestling Sasha Again”

A recent episode of the Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions series had Charlotte Flair as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Flair’s thoughts on Sasha Banks and Naomi’s walkout incident in WWE this past May.

“One, I haven’t been there, because I left after (WrestleMania) Backlash. I know what it’s like to jump on social media and read these headlines that are so far from the truth. I don’t know what happened. What I can say is, I can’t imagine never wrestling Sasha again. That would be hard for me to compartmentalize. We started together. She’s my Ricky Steamboat, my dad always tells her that. With Trin [Naomi], we just had a hell of a match on SmackDown and I’m like, ‘Oh, there is unfinished business there’ because of circumstances and storylines and whatever, we just, ‘here, you two wrestle.’ For me, I just can’t imagine not working with them. In terms of what they’re going through, it’s not my place to speak on behalf of the company or them because I’m not there right now.”

Zoey Stark & Nikkita Lyons’ Status Updates

As noted before, NXT talents Zoey Stark and Nikkita Lyons were pulled from Friday’s SmackDown show in Montreal, Canada due to Lyons being “medically unavailable” for an undisclosed issue. NXT’s Toxic Attraction’s Jacy Janye and Gigi Dolin replaced Stark and Lyons for their scheduled WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament match against Natalya and Sonya Deville, which was won by Toxic Attraction.

The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported in Friday’s Daily Update that his sources stated that the reasons why Stark and Lyons were pulled was due to Stark had suffered a concussion injury during her match against Mandy Rose at this past Tuesday’s NXT show.

Lyons reportedly was pulled due to her currently not being vaccinated for COVID-19, which is a Canadian government requirement for those traveling into their country. WWE officials reportedly did not realize when making the brackets and schedule for the tournament that Lyons was not vaccinated.
