NJPW Pulls Karl Anderson from November’s Battle Autumn 2022 Event

As noted before, The Good Brothers’ Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson made their surprise returns to WWE earlier this month. Following their return, the Good Brothers’ future in New Japan Pro Wrestling is believed to be in doubt despite Anderson being the current NEVER Openweight Champion. Anderson’s future with NJPW became even more uncertain following WWE booking him for their upcoming Crown Jewel 2022 event on November 5th despite him being booked beforehand for NJPW’s Battle Autumn 2022 event on the same date.

NJPW recently issued an official statement stating that they have pulled Anderson off the card of their upcoming Battle Autumn 2022 event in Osaka, Japan.

It was also announced that the scheduled NEVER Openweight Championship match has also been pulled and will not be replaced with a new match for the belt due to the current dispute between them and Anderson over the status of the belt.

Official statement:

Despite extensive efforts by New Japan Pro-Wrestling to negotiate with Karl Anderson regarding his scheduled match in Osaka at Battle Autumn on November 5, NJPW officials have still been met with no response, and have been left with no other option but to cancel the planned NEVER Openweight Championship match.

We apologise to fans who had been looking forward to watching Anderson wrestle.

After a challenge from Yujiro Takahashi, and at the direct request of Hikuleo, Osaka will now see a non-title special singles match between Yujiro Takahashi and Hikuleo.

NJPW holds its champions to the highest standard of professionalism. We deeply apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment caused by this matter.
