WWE: Triple H on White Rabbit, Bobby Lashley on Severe Depression Storyline Idea, Shinsuke Nakamura

Triple H Comments on WWE’s White Rabbit Project for Bray Wyatt’s Return

As noted before, Bray Wyatt made his official return to WWE at their Extreme Rules 2022 event earlier this month. Prior to his return, WWE aired several “White Rabbit” cryptic teasers in the weeks leading up to the show, which was revealed to be for Wyatt in the end.

The Wrap held a recent interview with WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque. One of the topics discussed included Levesque’s thoughts on WWE’s usage of social media to help build Wyatt’s return to the company.

“We asked ourselves how we could bring back Bray Wyatt in the most engaging way possible. So we created ‘The White Rabbit Project,’ intended to lead our audience down this literal rabbit hole of content to help build anticipation for Wyatt’s return at ‘Extreme Rules’ on Peacock. It started with flickering lights in arenas and continued with the release of other easter eggs, like hidden QR codes within episodes of ‘SmackDown’ and ‘Raw’ that led viewers to more clues that kept them guessing, and tuning in, each week. It culminated in what we believe was a massive pay-off for our fans – and for WWE. This is a great example of how WWE is uniquely positioned as a sports and entertainment property to harness the power of our shows and our social following to develop multimedia, long-term storytelling that can help produce meaningful aggregated audiences.”

Bobby Lashley Comments on Pitching Idea to Gain Weight for “Severe Depression” Storyline

A recent episode of the NotSam Wrestling podcast featured Bobby Lashley as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Lashley revealing that he once pitched the idea of gaining a lot of weight for a potential “severe depression” storyline in WWE.

“I told Vince, a year ago I think, a year or two ago, ‘I want to do this character.’ ‘What is it?’ ‘If I get beat one time, I want to go into this severe depression and put on 40, 50, 60, 70 pounds and just be fat.’ It’d be a completely different character, and then have somebody like MVP or someone on my side pull me back and have the crowd watch this transition back to me. He said, ‘there is no way you can do that.’ ‘I think I can do it.”

Lashley also gave his thoughts on if he is interested in pitching the idea again to Triple H under his creative leadership of WWE.

“I’m gonna try. I talked to some people about it. I think it was Drew (McIntyre) and he told me, ‘You’ll probably go into a depression.’ I think I would a little bit. Not because of the eating part, but the working out. I work out and that’s my therapy, that’s my everything.”
