AEW: New AEW Streaming Service Plans, Tony Khan on Creative Process Changes, Dynamite Match Producers

AEW Reportedly Considering Plans to Start New Streaming Service

AEW reportedly is currently considering plans to start a new AEW-based streaming service in the future, according to Bloomberg.

It was reported that one source spoken to close to the situation stated that AEW officials have held talks regarding the idea for a new streaming service owned by the company and it could involve their current television partner Warner Bros Discovery.

AEW is also considering starting a streaming service, likely through a deal with its broadcast partner, Warner Bros. Discovery Inc., according to a person familiar with management’s thinking, who asked not to be named.

It was also reported that this same source also stated that AEW managed to generate around $100 million in revenue last year for the first time in company history.

Tony Khan on Recent Changes Made to AEW’s Creative Process

A recent episode of the WTF with Marc Maron podcast featured AEW CEO Tony Khan as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Khan revealing that he made several small changes to his booking philosophy to help improve AEW’s creative process around the time of this past November’s Full Gear 2022 event.

“I had a process, I already had a schedule of what I had planned week to week in different stories with different matches and segments. At some point, I just inverted it. I realized I should tip this over. Instead of looking at the dates and building it out, I kind of flipped what the column was and what the rows were, and put the columns where the rows were, and now I organize everything like this since Full Gear and now I feel like I’m more organized, even though it’s all the same information, it’s just looking at it differently. It really helps.”

Following his comments, Khan showed the notebook he uses to plan out AEW storylines and shows to co-host Marc Maron. In response to comments from Maron about how his notebook resembled a storyboard used in other forms of entertainment, Khan stated:

“I was already doing that, and we kind of had that, but I had it the other way where it was looking at the shows and I had where the columns were, and out here were the different wrestlers and stories. For some reason, and I don’t know why, it shouldn’t make that big of a difference flipping it. The flow, working down the page, it looks a lot better and works a lot better. It’s basically the same thing I was doing, I just flipped the page around, and it’s helped me be even more organized.”
