AEW Collision Notes: Willow Nightingale Wins 2023 Women’s Owen Hart Cup, Ricky Starks Wins 2023 Men’s Owen Hart Cup

Saturday’s AEW Collision show in Calgary, Alberta, Canada featured the Finals of this year’s Women’s and Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup tournaments.

In regards to the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup Finals, Willow Nightingale defeated Ruby Soho to be crowned the winner of this year’s Women’s tournament.

The finish to this match involved Nightingale hitting a spinebuster that would have made Arn Anderson proud and followed it up with a Single Leg Crab. Soho managed to crawl to the ropes and grabbed her green spray paint can while Nightingale and the ref were not looking. As the referee fixed the ring apron, Soho handed the spray paint can to Nightingale and feigned innocence when the referee saw the illegal object. Soho then clawed at Willow’s eye and hit a No Future for a near fall. Soho then tried to grab her spray paint can again but was met with a pounce by Nightingale that sent the can out of the ring. Nightingale then hit a Babe With The Powerbomb to Soho for the pinfall victory and to be crowned the winner of this year’s Women’s Owen Hart Cup tournament.

In regards to the Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup Finals, Ricky Starks defeated CM Punk to be crowned the winner of this year’s Men’s tournament.

The finish to this match involved Starks and Punk exchanges strikes that led to Punk catching Starks and hitting a piledriver for a near fall. Punk then hoisted up Starks for a Go To Sleep but Starks escaped after delivering an elbow and hit a spear sending Punk out of the ring. After tossing Punk back into the ring, Starks went for another spear only for Punk to catch him in a Guillotine Choke hold. Starks was able to get to the ropes to break the hold leading to Punk putting Starks on the top rope and hitting a hurricanrana off of it. After a brief roll-ups exchange, Starks rolled up Punk and held his hand onto the ropes for added leverage for the pinfall victory and become the winner of this year’s Men’s Owen Hart Cup tournament.

Nightingale joins Britt Baker as those who have won the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup and Starks joins Adam Cole as those who have won the Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup.
