Saturday’s Slammiversary 2023 event for Impact Wrestling in Windsor, Ontario, Canada featured Eric Young making his surprise return to the company. Young was revealed to be the mystery tag team partner for Scott D’Amore for his match against Bully Ray and Deaner at the event.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that the reason why Young was able to return to Impact was due to he had asked and was granted his release from WWE this past April. Young’s 90-day no-compete clause reportedly had expired last week. Prior to his release, Young had been with WWE since this past November.
Those spoken to within WWE stated that it was not a coincidence that Young had asked for his release right after WWE’s announcement of a sale to Endeavor.
