Three New Matches Announced for AEW Full Gear 2023

Wednesday’s Dynamite show in Philadelphia featured three new matches officially announced for AEW Full Gear 2023, which takes place on November 18th at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California.

This new match announced is a ROH World Tag Team Championship match of The Gunns (Austin & Colten Gunn) vs. MJF (c)

This match was setup following a promo segment involving MJF and Bullet Club Gold. Following MJF’s victory over Juice Robinson to retain his Dynamite Diamond Ring, Bullet Club Gold attacked MJF leading to The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn running out for the save. After some trash talk by Jay White directed towards MJF and claiming that he will beat him for the AEW World title, The Gunns had their turn on the mic and challenged MJF for a match for the ROH World Tag Team titles at Full Gear 2023. MJF responded by first insulting The Gunns calling them “Ass Boys” and afterwards accepted their challenge. MJF then issued a challenge of his own for an 8-Man Tag Team match at next week’s Dynamite show between Bullet Club Gold and a team involving him and three guys of his choosing with the stipulation that if his team wins, then White must give back his AEW World title that was stolen by White.

The second new match announced is an AEW Women’s World Championship match of Toni Storm vs. Hikaru Shida (c).

This match was setup following a graphic during tonight’s show that announced Storm would face off against the winner tonight’s match between Ruby Soho vs. Shida for the AEW Women’s World title at Full Gear 2023.

The third new match announced is a Trios match of Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, & Nick Wayne vs. Sting, Darby Allin, & mystery partner.

This match was setup following Cage interrupting Sting’s gift ceremony that featured Ric Flair making his surprise appearance and debut in AEW. Cage proceeded to launch a series of insults directed towards Tony Khan, Sting, Ric Flair, Darby Allin, and the Philadelphia Phillies with Flair bearing the brunt of the insults tossed out. Cage then issued a challenge for a Trios match between a team consisting of himself, Luchasaurs, & Wayne against Sting, Allin, and a partner of their choosing. Cage then gave another insult directed at Flair saying that they could pick Flair even though he is just one superkick away from turning into dust. Sting responded sneezing saying that he is allergic to jackasses as his insult retort to Cage and accepted the challenge.

AEW World Title Match Announced for Sat. AEW Collision Show

Wednesday’s Dynamite show in Philadelphia also featured one new match officially announced for the card of this Saturday’s AEW Collision show in Uncasville, Connecticut.

This is an AEW World Championship match of Kenny Omega vs. MJF (c).

This match was initially setup following a backstage segment during last week’s Dynamite show involving MJF interrupting Omega’s backstage interview and teasing that he was only 13 days away from breaking his all-time AEW World title reign record. During tonight’s show, Omega confronted MJF on the stage and responded to MJF’s recent comments towards him. Omega then challenged MJF to an AEW World title match at this Saturday’s Collision show. Omega then finished by telling MJF “3 days bitch” in reference to MJF insulting him the same way last week. This match was made official later into the show.

Ric Flair Makes Surprise Appearance on Wednesday’s Dynamite Show

Wednesday’s Dynamite show also featured WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair making his surprise appearance and debut in AEW.

In the lead-up to tonight’s show, AEW advertised that AEW CEO Tony Khan had a special gift for Sting in honor of his upcoming retirement from wrestling that would be revealed at tonight’s show. During an in-ring segment involving Sting and Darby Allin, Sting continued where he left off last week and talked more about his upcoming retirement and gave thanks to both Philadelphia and Allin. Sting then handed over the microphone to Tony Schiavone who stated that Khan’s special gift for Sting was someone that Sting knew going back to his early days in WCW. This was revealed to be Flair who came out and proceeded to give a speech praising Sting and calling him one of the greatest ever in the wrestling business and the nicest guy he has ever known.
