WWE: John Cena Underwent Second Arm Surgery, Axiom NXT Status Update, Backstage Update on Potential CM Punk Return

John Cena Underwent Second Arm Surgery

As noted before, John Cena underwent arm surgery earlier this month and was scheduled to undergo a second surgery within the near future.

Cena recently provided an update on Twitter stating that he underwent surgery to repair his other arm on Tuesday and thanked his doctor and his team for the successful surgery.


Axiom NXT Status Update

As noted before, this past Friday’s SmackDown show in Evansville, Indiana featured NXT talent Axiom making his main roster debut. Axiom competed in a singles match against Dragon Lee, which was won by Lee.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that Axiom’s appearance at this past Friday’s SmackDown show was a last minute decision by WWE officials. Axiom reportedly was booked for show on Saturday morning.

In regards to Axiom’s status within WWE, Johnson reported that Axiom is still listed internally as a member of WWE’s NXT roster and this was not meant to act as a main roster call-up for.


Backstage Update on WWE’s Interest in CM Punk’s Potential Return at Survivor Series 2023

As noted before, WWE is currently believed to still not be interested CM Punk returning to the company following his firing from AEW this past September nor have any plans for a potential return at this Saturday’s Survivor Series 2023 event in Punk’s hometown of Chicago.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that WWE officials stance still remains the same as before in regards to them currently having no interest in CM Punk returning to the company at their Survivor Series 2023 event. Those spoken to reportedly stated that they have not been made aware of any creative plans for a potential return for Punk for the event.

In regards to Shinsuke Nakamura’s recent cryptic promos directed towards a mysterious person, one talent spoken to reportedly stated that they currently have no idea who this person in question could be nor if it is actually meant to be for Punk.

In regards to WWE revealing Randy Orton as the mystery final member of Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Jey Uso, & Sami Zayn’s team for the Men’s WarGames match at this past Monday’s RAW show, it was reported that WWE officials had specially done this in order to avoid fans anticipating or assuming that it would be Punk going into their Survivor Series 2023 event.
