Adam Copeland Comments on Upcoming Match with Christian Cage & Cage Making TNT Title More Important Than AEW World Title

Sports Illustrated held a recent interview with Adam Copeland. One of the topics discussed included Copeland’s thoughts about why his upcoming match against Christian Cage is taking place on AEW Dynamite in Montreal, Canada instead of at this month’s AEW Worlds End event.

“I’ve heard, ‘Why isn’t this at the pay-per-view?’ To me, where is more important than when. We get to do it in Montreal. There’s no other choice for us but to have it here. My family is coming for this one, cousins and relatives who’ve known [Christian] for years.

There’s something special about doing it in Canada. I am really, really amped up to do this one. I truly think there’s not another story like ours, with this real story. Two friends from Orangeville, Ontario, who made it where we made it because of each other. I’m hoping this is a rabid crowd. This is what I dreamed of–working that guy in Montreal for a championship.”

Copeland also praised Cage for the work he has done during his time in AEW.

“This is [Christian] without any constraints. He’s discovering and sometimes accidentally stumbling on things that garner a reaction. He’s the type of performer whose ears are always open. If he pushes a button, then just wait, he’ll do it again and even better. And he’s helping bring others up, too.”

Copeland also gave his thoughts on his belief that Cage had made the TNT Championship more important than the AEW World Championship in AEW.

“It’s the title that’s the most important thing in the world to Christian. When the title is involved, that should always be the lynchpin of a story. It should hold enough significance to break up a friendship.

That has been lost in a lot of cases over the years, but I appreciate how he’s made the title important. His goal was to make it bigger than AEW world title. At this point, I believe he’s done it.”

Bryan Danielson Clarifies His Role in AEW’s Disciplinary Committee

As noted before, Bryan Danielson recently confirmed that he is a currently a member of AEW’s disciplinary committee and was involved in the decision process to terminate CM Punk’s contract with the company.

Inside The Ropes held a recent interview with Danielson. One of the topics discussed included Danielson providing additional details regarding his role in AEW’s disciplinary committee.

“I’m just a part of the disciplinary committee and we had to take the action that we had to take. The whole thing was hard. I really like Punk and I have a lot of respect for Punk. He’s been an important part of AEW and I wish him the best going forward. I hope he does a great job there and I hope he has a lot of fun. Past that, I don’t really want to say a lot. Nobody wants to be part of a disciplinary committee. My wife [Brie Bella] and I joke, ‘You could turn it into a gimmick.’ The reality is, I was kind of honored when they asked me to be a part of it. It’s not something I get paid for. I’m just like the other wrestlers in the sense that I don’t have a contract outside of being a wrestler contract. I’m just one of the wrestlers. I was honored to take on more. When they asked me to take on more roles backstage, that always makes you feel good of like, ‘they trust me in these positions.’ With this being my last full-time year as a wrestler, that’s something I’m looking at going forward. What other things can I do besides being in the ring that could help AEW? It’s been good. It’s been interesting. All the other people on the committee, they have college degrees, they are lawyers, I’m like, ‘I don’t have any education.’ [laughs]. I’ve been playfighting in my spandex for 24 years. That’s my education.”
