Oba Femi & Riley Osborne Advances in Men’s Breakout 2023 Tournament

Tuesday’s NXT show featured two First Round matches for WWE’s NXT Men’s Breakout 2023 tournament.

The first tournament match was Oba Femi defeating Myles Borne.

The finish to this match involved Femi hitting a European uppercut to Borne that led to Borne hitting a power slam in return for the nearfall. After some more action, Femi lifted Borne up in the ait and caught him with a pop-up powerbomb for the pinfall victory to advance to the next round of the 2023 Men’s Breakout tournament.

The second tournament match was Riley Osborne defeating Keanu Carver.

The finish to this match involved Osborne hitting a leg lariat to Carver and followed it with a dropkick sending Carver into the corner. Carver responded with a Pounce that sent Riley crashing through the ropes and onto the apron. Keanu attempted to attack Riley which led to Riley kicking Keanu on the apron and hit a Shooting Star Press off the top rope for the pinfall victory to advance to the next round of the 2023 Men’s Breakout tournament.

Lexis King Added to Men’s Breakout 2023 Tournament

Tuesday’s NXT show featured Lexis King being officially added to the field of this year’s Men’s Breakout Tournament.

Prior to the start of the tournament, NXT had a roll call featuring all of the competitors for this year’s tournament. After each competitor had their name announced and spotlight treatment, Lexis King ran out and attacked Trey Bearhill with a chair laying him out. King then had a stand-off with the rest of the competitors that was quickly broken up by NXT officials.

In a follow-up backstage segment, King and Ava were hanging around outside of NXT head booker Shawn Michaels’ office. King boasted about his actions earlier which led to Ava chastising him and stating that everyone else in the tournament doesn’t want him to enter just to see him but instead want to beat him up after what he did. Ava also stated that since King injured Bearhill, he will now be taking Bearhill’s spot in the tournament.

Carmelo Hayes Attacked by Mystery Person at Tuesday’s NXT Show & Claims Ilja Dragunov as the Attacker

Tuesday’s NXT show featured Carmelo Hayes being attacked by a mystery person.

This attack took place following a backstage parking lot interview segment involving Hayes and Trick Williams. As Williams and Hayes were walking to the venue, they were stopped by several unseen reporters. While Williams stopped to answer several questions, Hayes decided to go into the venue instead.

In a follow-up segment, Hayes was seen on the ground tossing away a chair and clutching at his knee as the victim of an apparent attack by a mystery person. NXT officials and Williams quickly attended to Hayes and Williams asked if Hayes had seen his attacker.

In another follow-up segment, Hayes and Williams were seen in the medical room and a NXT doctor stated that Hayes did not suffer anything serious and was medically cleared to compete again. Williams asked Hayes if he knew who attacked him. Hayes stated that while he did not see the person, he thinks it was someone who he has dealt with in the past.

In a follow-up segment, Trick Williams and NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov were in the ring giving a face-to-face promo about their upcoming match at next month’s NXT New Year’s Evil 2024 special. Hayes music played interrupting Williams and Dragunov and Hayes walked to the ring with a limp. Hayes grabbed a microphone and stated that he knows both who had attack Williams months ago and himself earlier in the show. Dragunov stated that this was something meant between them and tried to leave before being stopped by Hayes who claimed it was Dragunov. After some back-and-forth banter between Hayes and Dragunov over Hayes’ accusations and Dragunov’s denial, Hayes lunged at Dragunov’s title and a tug-of-war took place. This led to Hayes winning the tug-of-war but accidentally hitting Williams in the head with the belt. Both Dragunov and Hayes looked on at what had just happened while the crowd chanted “Melo’s guilty” as the show went off the air.
