Hangman Adam Page Reportedly Set to Take Time Off After AEW Revolution 2024

As noted before, Hangman Adam Page was involved in a storyline ankle injury angle at the Februray 21st AEW Dynamite show due to Page dealing with a personal issue at the time that could have led to him not being able to work at this past Sunday’s Revolution 2024 event. During this past Wednesday’s Dynamite show, Page faked pulled out of his match at Revolution 2024 and attacked Swerve Strickland who had fallen for his trap.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Page will be taking some time off from AEW following their Revolution 2024 event. It was reported that this was the reason for Page attacking a referee during the AEW World Championship Three-way match since that was AEW officials’ way of writing off Page.

It was reported that the reason for Page’s break is due to “family matters” and it is currently not known when Page will return to the company.

More on Kyle O’Reilly’s Surprise Return at AEW Revolution 2024

Sunday’s AEW Revolution 2024 event in Greensboro, North Carolina also featured Kyle O’Reilly making his surprise return from a neck injury and neck fusion surgery since June of 2022.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that O’Reilly had been optimistic of being able to make a return since late 2023.

In regards to O’Reilly sporting a new look for his return, it was reported that there will be “other elements” added to his presentation that will be different for him as well.

In regards to AEW’s plans for O’Reilly following his return, it was reported that AEW officials had been working on plans for the past several months for O’Reilly to go in a new direction for his career as the reason why he turned down joining the Undisputed Kingdom at the event.

It was also reported that while the rest of the Undisputed Era is back together in AEW, AEW officials have not held any recent talks with Bobby Fish for a potential return for him in the company.

Update on Darby Allin’s Lacerated Back Injury at AEW Revolution 2024

Sunday’s AEW Revolution 2024 event also featured Darby Allin suffering a lacerated back injury during his tag team match with Sting against The Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team Championship. Allin suffered the lacerated back following him performing a Swanton dive off of a ladder and landing through a panel of glass that was held up by several seated chairs at ringside.

Bryan Alvarez reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Live that his sources stated that despite Allin suffering a very lacerated back, he only needed 12 stitches to close his wounds. Alvarez stated that he was surprised when he found out how few stitches were needed due to how bad Allin’s back looked on television following the spot.

Sting Gives Post-Show Speech Following His Retirement Match at AEW Revolution 2024

Following Sting and Darby Allin’s victory over The Young Bucks to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship at Sunday’s AEW Revolution 2024 event, Sting gave a speech to the crowd. This speech was cut short on the live broadcast of the event due to AEW running out of time.

AEW released the full video of Sting’s post-match speech on their YouTube channel.

“Thank you, Greensboro. To be honest with you, I’ve been thanking you all since March of 1988. ‘Nature Boy’ [versus] Sting, 45-minute draw for the world title. Thank you, Ric. Greensboro, you were incredible in ‘88 and beyond, all the way to this very night. I’ve been saying in all kinds of interviews, I just want this to be a night that wrestling fans will not forget, a night of wrestling that will be etched in your minds for years to come. It is me that’s saying that this is a night I’ll never forget. Thank you, Greensboro. Yeah, this is definitely a time to give thanks for sure. Thank you to one of the greatest tag team partners I’ve ever had, Darby Allin. I wonder how many stitches this is gonna require tonight,

Following some comments made by Allin about their match, Sting responded back praising Allin stating:

“I knew from the very first time I saw Darby in action, he’s a risk-taker. I was a risk-taker back in my young days, and you know what, I’m kinda old now, but I’m still a risk-taker, especially if I’m here in Greensboro. I’m getting cues, hold on.”

Sting gave his thoughts about AEW’s tribute video for him and his sons accompanying him at ringside for his match. Sting then called for AEW CEO Tony Khan to come out to the ring to be with him.

“I was hoping that this night would be surreal in many ways. The video package that you saw before we got to the ring, then to see, this is the exact boots and tights and jacket [points to his son] way back when. Then in later years, we got some cool Wolfpack Sting going on over here. We’re off the air now, so I can do that. You know what, Greensboro? You still got it. I don’t have any words other than to say thank you, I love you all so much. I’d like to call another very important person out. This wouldn’t be possible without Tony Khan. Tony, this is my last night, so I can say, ‘Tony, hustle, come on.”

After some comments by Khan thanking the crowd, Allin responded stating:

“I really don’t know what else there is to say, I really don’t. The fact that Tony Khan felt Sting deserved this, and you guys gave it to him. He said he was going to leave absolutely nothing left in his ring by the end of the night, and I hope you feel like you got your money’s worth. I’m gonna go to the hospital real quick.”

After some more words, Sting called for Tony Schiavone to come to the ring and Schiavone proceeded to deliver his icon “It’s Sting” line for one last time for Sting’s career. This led to AEW’s locker room coming out to applaud Sting and Sting left with his sons to end the post-show festivities.
