As noted before, Shane McMahon was rumored to have recently reached out to AEW talents about the idea of him potentially joining AEW in the future. McMahon was confirmed to have spoken to Mercedes Mone earlier this month at the Laguardia Airport in New York City, New York.
WrestleTalk reported that their sources stated that McMahon and AEW CEO Tony Khan held a private meeting on Monday in regards to a potential deal between the two sides.
It was reported that this meeting took place in an office at a private airport in Arlington, Texas. It was also reported that they managed to obtain a photo of this private meeting.

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources confirmed that McMahon and Khan held a meeting this past Monday afternoon discussing “possibilities moving forward”.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that Khan has been “very open” to “using” McMahon for several weeks now and had made it clear that he was open to the idea of talking to McMahon when others brought the topic up to him backstage.
Sapp reported that those spoken to within AEW had not been briefed about this meeting this past Tuesday.
Sapp also reported that McMahon has not been under any kind of contract with WWE as of June of 2024 and this was something his sources within WWE had confirmed to be the case.
McMahon has been absent from wrestling since WWE’s WrestleMania 39 event in April of 2023.
