Kamille Defends Damaris Lewis’ Comments About Wrestling Matches Being Predetermined at AEW Revolution 2025

This past Sunday’s AEW Revolution 2025 event in Los Angeles, California was notable for controversial comments made by Queen of the Ring actress Damaris Lewis about her exposing the predetermined nature of wrestling matches. In a ringside interview segment held by Tony Schiavone with the film’s director and leading actresses, Lewis gave her thoughts about what she learned about pro wrestling during her time on the film and responded stating “Ya’ll know you’re going to win before anybody else does. Thank you for teaching me that.” This quickly lead to online backlash from wrestling fans over Lewis’ publicly saying wrestling is fake.

Kamille, who also starred in the film, recently responded on Instagram defending Lewis and clarified what Lewis actually meant by her comments. Kamille also gave her thoughts about why Lewis’ comments came out the way it did due to her only having a few seconds to respond on the spot and the live nature of the segment.

“I’m seeing lots of things about, ‘Oh my Gosh, how could this actress say wrestling is fake.’ I looked and it was my girlfriend Damaris. I was thinking, ‘Why would she say something like that?’ I did press with her, I was on the film with her, she has so much respect for wrestling. I looked into it and I watched the video. Guys. That’s not what she meant. I did press with her and a lot of questions that were asked was like, ‘What’s your biggest takeaway from this film?’ Something she really reinforced was that she learned from Mildred’s story and a lot of the wrestlers that she talked to is that they already know they are going to win. She’s not talking about who is going to win. If you notice she doesn’t say, ‘You already know who is going to win.’ She said, ‘You already know you’re going to win.’ What she meant by that is that we are determined. We know that we are winners. We know that we’re going to make it no matter what. We have in our mind, pre-determined, that we are going to win and we’re going to get where we want to go, do what we want to do, what dream we set. That’s what she meant.

If you watch other interviews she did, she makes it much more clear. It’s unfortunate it came out the way it did and the situation it came out in, but she only had a few seconds to get across something that was really meaningful for her. She’s a deep thinker. Someone that is such a deep thinker, do you really think their biggest takeaway is, ‘You wrestlers taught me this is predetermined, thanks for that.’ What we’re showing right now is that the wrestling community is really mean and nasty and loves to attack. Let’s give people the benefit of the doubt. Let’s go ask her. Let’s get the words from her mouth when she has more than five seconds to say what she’s trying to say. [It’s] unfortunate the way it came out. It’s not what she meant. Attack me if you want, I don’t care, but don’t attack my friend. She’s no fool. She’s a deep thinker and she respects the business a great amount. I am defending Demeris because it’s BS the things I’m seeing and the people attacking her. She was trying to put over wrestlers as determined and hard workers, and that’s it.”

AEW News & Notes

Former WWE talent Elektra Lopez reportedly was in attendance backstage at this past Sunday’s AEW Revolution 2025 event in Los Angeles, California, according to Lucha Libre Online.

Besides Elektra Lopez, former WWE and current Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling commentator Mauro Ranallo reportedly was also in attendance backstage at this past Sunday’s AEW Revolution 2025 event, according to PWInsider.

This past Sunday’s AEW Revolution 2025 event was notable for controversial comments made by Queen of the Ring actress Damaris Lewis about her exposing the predetermined nature of wrestling matches during a ringside interview segment. Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources stated that there was a lot of “scoffing” over the controversial comments made by Lewis.

The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that AEW’s current plans for their Collision show on the weekend of March 22-23 is to split up the show into two one hour shows rather than as a single two-hour show for March 22nd as an experiment. Meltzer reported that both shows are currently scheduled to air starting at 11PM EST on each night and will have this year’s Men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament as the lead-ins. Meltzer also reported that the reason for the decision is so that AEW wouldn’t need to cancel their Collision show that week due to TNT’s commitments with the NCAA.

As noted before, Eddie Kingston has been out of action for AEW and NJPW since this past May due to a broken leg, torn ACL, and torn meniscus injuries and surgery. Kingston recently reflected on Instagram about this past Sunday’s AEW Revolution 2025 event. Kingston statedLOVE IS THE HIGHEST ELEVATION OF UNDERSTANDING. I don’t understand AEW anymore after last night. Why come back smh.” It is currently not known who or what Kingston was referring to in his post nor if this was simply just responding in character.

As noted before, AEW is currently considering the idea of potentially bringing in rapper Kendrick Lamar to an AEW event in the future. In a recent interview with Unlikely, Swerve Strickland gave his thoughts about the potential of Lamar making an appearance in AEW in the future. Strickland stated “Oh, I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know why you’re talking to me about that. I’m worried about this match [laughs]. Every time there’s a hip-hop rumor in the atmosphere, they go to Swerve about it? I’m like, I have no idea. If he pops out, that’d be great. Kendrick, I’ve never met the man. I don’t really have a close thing with TDE. Actually, I am friends with Isaiah Rashad. But that’s the only connection. Little do people know, I was Isiah Scott. I was Isaiah because of Isaiah Rashad in WWE. So that’s where we linked up and became cool. But that’s the only connection I have, and I haven’t spoken to him in a minute, but I have no connection with Kendrick or any of the people coming out. So if he pops out, he shows up, news to me too.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

In a recent interview with the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast, Will Ospreay gave his thoughts about his issues with WWE fans who have been critical of his work because he didn’t sign with WWE. Ospreay stated “No, but if I had gone there, they’d be fucking wanking into tissues over me. It’s the same. You have to seperate it, otherwise you drive yourself insane. Wrestling is my passion and my job. If you have something that you are passionate about, you really don’t care what people are saying who have never impacted your career in your entire life. Once upon a time, they were big hits, anyone who ever complained about AEW, like the grifters or whatever they are called, even if they say something, they’re not impacting our show, the second most profitable wrestling company of all time. That’s not talked about enough and everyone wants to dig at it. I get it, there are things we could generally improve on, and it’s fair to listen to some criticism. For me, I don’t lose sleep over anyone trying to tell me how to wrestle because look at me. I’m a fucking idiot. I know I am, but I’ve carved out this little lane for myself. I was destined to be someone that either worked at McDonald’s or pushed trolley’s at Tescos, but because I learned the trade over in England and Japan, and my enthusiasm and my passion comes over here, I don’t let things…if people are like, ‘Oh, this is shit.’ ‘Why?’ ‘Because it’s shit.’ That’s not fair. If you give me criticism and points that I can work on, then I’ll try my best to work on it. I’m not going to get it right away, but I think that’s the stuff people need to speak more about.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
