Vince Steel Passes Away at Age 39 at Indie Wrestling Event

Indie wrestler “The Jurassic Juggernaut” Vince Steele passed away on Sunday at the age of 39.

Steele’s passing was first announced by Coastal Championship Wrestling on Twitter, who stated “We are heartbroken to learn about the passing of “The Jurassic Juggernaut” Vince Steele. Our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and his fans. Rest In Peace, big man. You will forever be missed.”

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that Steele had suffered a medical emergency during his Four-way match for an event for Brii Combination Wrestling in Ridgefeld Park, New Jersey.

Fightful’s Collin Tessier and Sean Ross Sapp reported that Steele’s cause of death was due to a cardiac arrest he suffered during his match and was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Post Wrestling’s John Pollock reported that when contacted for comments, Ridgefield Park Police Department police chief Joseph Rella stated that patrol officers were dispatched after a medical call was made at the location of the show. Rella stated that it was unknown if Steele was breathing when the call was made and the belief was that he was suffering from a heart attack. Rella also stated that when officers arrived, Steele was unconscious and they began to administer CPR and used a defibrillator. Rella also stated that an ambulance and ALS (Advanced Life Support) were also dispatched from a local hospital and Steele was transported to there. Rella also stated that the precise time of death for Steele is currently not known.

Bodyslam.net reported that one witness who attended the event stated that it took around 45 minutes for an ambulance to arrive to the venue. This was something that Pollock was not able to confirm from his talk with the police department.

In an official statement, Brii Combination Wrestling confirmed on Twitter that Steele had suffered a cardiac arrest during his match and claimed that an ambulance had arrived “within minutes.”

“We are heartbroken to confirm the passing of Vince Steele, a beloved member of the BCW family. His passion, dedication, and larger-than-life presence left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew him. During yesterday’s event, Vince suffered a medical emergency in the ring. We want to express our deepest gratitude to the Ridgefield Park Police Department, who were on the scene within minutes and immediately provided emergency medical assistance. We will share more details in the coming days on how we plan to honor Vince’s incredible legacy. Rest easy Jurassic Juggernaut.”

A GoFundMe fundraiser was recently launched to help financially assist Steele’s family with funeral costs over his tragic passing.

Steele had worked for a variety of indie companies including Brii Combination Wrestling, Cosatal Championship Wrestling, American Championship Entertainment, Big Time Wrestling, Champion Wrestling Association, and SWA.
