Pat McAfee Comments on Gunther’s Attack on Him on Monday’s WWE RAW Show

Monday’s WWE RAW After Mania show in Las Vegas, Nevada featured Gunther attacking RAW commentators Michael Cole and Pat McAfee after a confrontation at ringside over Gunther being upset over his loss to Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41 and Cole mocking Gunther for tapping out.

Tuesday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show featured co-host McAfee giving his thoughts about Gunther’s recent attack on him and provided an update on his health status.

“Thank you for all the positive prayers and vibes for this here neck that Gunther snatched up and chocked me out on Monday Night Raw, the Raw after Mania last night. I went to a medical facility local over there in Las Vegas. I thought maybe I was going to have something with the C2/C3 maybe, up here, something in the neck, because of how it felt. But instead I was deemed a-okay. I certainly lost consciousness last night though as the entire world watched on.”

McAfee also gave his thanks to his fellow podcast show members for jumping over the barricade and trying to come to his aide before being stopped by security.

“I appreciate you boys trying to get in there as I was blindsided while trying to stick up for Michael Cole as this Austrian assh*le was attacking me. But there was 45 security people on you guys. There was nobody [on me] — I’m getting my life choked out of me, what am I supposed to do? Well, I found out quickly that there ain’t really much you can do whenever Gunther’s got that thing on you. He had his legs wrapped around me at one time… I felt my body slithering away.”

McAfee also gave his thoughts about him being ready for Gunther in the future if things were to become physical between them again.

“Everybody who said that they’re happy it happened to me, I hope we meet in person so I can punch you in the f*cking face. I was sticking up for Michael Cole. He grabbed up Michael Cole. He was going to choke out Michael Cole? Yeah right, can’t be having that. So what happens next here now? I don’t know, you tell me. Just know that I’m bout it, bout it for whatever. And if you think that choking me out is going to end me, you’re wrong. If you think you were going to bury me publicly and I’m going to quit showing up, you’re wrong. But I know you’re not going to mess with Michael Cole and get away with it. I don’t care how big, strong, intimidating, how good your rear naked choke is — I don’t care about any of that, okay? Michael Cole is a good man. We appreciate Michael Cole. And whenever you start attacking him, things like that are going to happen.”

Lex Luger Comments on Reason for His Abscense from Hall of Fame Segment at WrestleMania 41

This past Saturday’s WWE WrestleMania 41 Night 1 event in Las Vegas, Nevada featured WWE holding an on stage segment honoring this year’s class of WWE Hall of Fame inductees and their families. This segment was notable for Lex Luger being absent during the roll call celebration.

A recent episode of The Ariel Helwani Show featured Luger as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Luger’s thoughts about the reason for his abscense from this past Saturday’s WrestleMania 41 show.

“It’s wild how that stuff catches fire. With all that happened, the next day on Saturday, I could hardly get out of bed. I called the guys and they were cool about it. They said, ‘Look, we’d love to have you down there. Let’s see how you feel later in the day,’ but it was obvious by later in the afternoon that I wasn’t going to be able to get out there.”

Seth Rollins Comments on His Concerns Over WWE Cutting Back on Live Events & Impact on Future Generations of WWE Wrestlers

A recent episode of the Outta Pocket with RGIII podcast featured Seth Rollins. One of the topics discussed included Rollins’ thoughts about his concerns about WWE cutting back on their live events and the negative impact it could have for future generations of wrestlers in WWE.

“My biggest concern, and I’ll try not to expound on this too much, but my biggest concern is the generation that is being groomed now, we are dipping our toe heavily into the NIL world. Taking a lot of college athletes who, maybe after college, there is no future for them as far as money in sports, so we offer them deals to get paid while they are in college to come and maybe be part of WWE when they are older. There is nothing wrong with training these people from scratch, I have no problem with that, but couple that with our live event schedule. We used to do them every weekend, sometimes two shows every day on Saturdays and Sundays, there would be two running simultaneously in different towns. That’s where I learned my craft and the art of wrestling and storytelling. If you don’t get the repetitions to learn that, I don’t care what kind of athlete you are or how impressive your vertical leap is or how many times you can bench press 400 pounds, it’s not going to translate because you don’t know how to tell stories. You might be a hell of a performer, but ‘I need a promo. Go out there, five minutes, get it done.’

If you don’t know how to do that because you haven’t learned and practiced and failed so many times that, there is no substitute for in-game. There is no substitute for doing a live show in front of a paying audience because they will give you instant feedback, and you’ll know what you have to change. That’s my biggest concern for our next generation. You’re plucking from a world where these guys don’t really follow wrestling or may not be fans, and then they’re not getting the experience on top of it to learn how to be part of what we do and how to tell those stories. I do have a concern that over a few generations, that might be harmful to the future of the industry.”
