IWGP World Title Match Set for NJPW Resurgence 2025 & IWGP Global Title Match Set for NJPW Dominion 2025
Sunday’s Wrestling Dontaku 2025 Night 2 show in Fukuoka, Japan featured two new matches set for the cards of Resurgence 2025 on May 9th in Ontario, California and Dominion 2025 on June 15th in Osaka, Japan.
The first new match set was an IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship match of Gabe Kidd vs. Yota Tsuji (c). This match was also setup to take place at Dominion 2025.
This match was setup following Tsuji defeating Yuya Uemura to retain his title and called for his next challenger to come out. This led to Kidd coming out to accept the challenge and stating for it to happen at Dominion and Tsuji agreeing.
The second new match set was an IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match of Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Hirooki Goto (c).
This match was setup following Goto defeating Callum Newman to retain his title and Zack Sabre Jr. coming out to issue a challenge for Resurgence 2025, which Goto accepted. This led to Shingo Takagi coming out and after some words, he issued a challenge of him facing the winner in a match for the title at a future event.
Rey Mysterio Makes Video Appearance at Saturday’s AAA Event & Says Lucha Libre Future “Flies Here”
Saturday’s event in Mexico City, Mexico for Lucha Libre AAA featured Rey Mysterio making a surprise video appearance.
During the start of the show, a video aired featuring Mysterio giving a promo talking about the whole world is watching WWE and AAA taking Lucha Libre to a new higher level and the future of Lucha Libre is here.

WWE had announced their aquisition of AAA this past April during their pre-show for WrestleMania 41 Night 1 event.

As noted before, this past April’s Game Changer Wrestling’s Joey Janela’s Spring Break 9 event featured Attitus Cogar defeating Fuego Del Sol in a Mask vs. GCW career match. As a result of his loss, Del Sol unmasked himself and took off his boots leading to speculation of him retiring. Del Sol provided an update earlier today on Twitter announcing that Fuego Del Sol had been “dead” since he left AEW and has been masquerading as Fuego for years hoping that somebody would pick him up and revive his career. Del Sol stated that he will now be known as KJ Orso going forward for the next chapter of his wrestling career.
Anthem Sports & Entertainment announced that TNA Wrestling recently signed a new media rights deal with Claro Sports for Mexico, Central America, and South America.
Saturday’s NOAH 25th Anniversary Memorial Voyage event for Pro Wrestling NOAH in Tokyo, Japan featured three new champions being crowned. The first was Alpha Wolf & Dragon Bane defeating AMAKUSA & Junta Miyawaki to become the new GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. The second was Kenoh & Ulka Sasaki defeating Team 2000X (Daga & Jack Morris) to become the new GHC Tag Team Champions. The third was YO-HEY defeating Eita to become the new GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion.
In a recent Q&A article, PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that while the Dark Side of the Ring series has yet to be officially renewed for a seventh season by VICE TV, his sources stated that at least two topics are in the pre-production discussions stage for a potential new season.

Stardom reportedly drew a paid attendance of 1,096 for their April 24th Nighter in Korakuen event in Tokyo, 557 for their April 29th Golden Week Fight Tour 2025 In Fukuyama event in Fukuyama, and 398 for their May 1st Golden Week Fight Tour 2025 In Takamatsu in Takamatsu, Japan, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Marigold reportedly drew a paid attendance of 680 for their April 25th Rising Spirit event in Tokyo, Japan, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
All Japan Pro Wrestling reportedly drew a paid attendance of 887 for their April 26th Champion Carnival 2025 event in Nagoya, 950 for their April 27th Champion Carnival 2025 event in Osaka, 330 for their April 28th Champion Carnival 2025 event in Takamatsu, and 725 for their April 29th Champion Carnival 2025 event in Okayama, Japan, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
GCW and indies talent Kevin Ku recently announced on Twitter that he will be undergoing surgery to remove his meniscus and will be out of action for the next couple of months.
