As noted before, former NJPW talent David Finlay made a surprise appearance at this past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show in El Paso, Texas and reunited with his War Dogs buddies Clark Connors and Gabe Kidd. It was announced afterwards that The Dogs’ Finlay, Connors, and Kidd had signed official contracts with AEW.
In regards to Finlay, Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Finlay did not have any discussions with TNA Wrestling for a potential deal before joining AEW despite some recent online speculation that had been going around. Those spoken to reportedly also confirmed that Finlay’s deal with AEW came together very recently and was only finalized within the past week. Finlay reportedly specifically wanted to return to working regularly in the United States for his decision to leave NJPW and signing with AEW.
In regards to Connors, it was reported that his deal with AEW was finalized a couple of weeks prior to Finlay’s official full-time debut appearance and the group’s on-screen reunion at this past Wednesday’s Dynamite show.
