As noted before, John Cena confirmed earlier this week that he will be making an appearance at WWE’s Backlash 2026 event on May 9th in Tampa, Florida and teased he will be breaking “some history-making news” at the event. Cena recently claimed that his upcoming announcement will “shock the very foundation of WWE,”
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that the current internal expectation within WWE is that Cena’s announcement will be in relation to the upcoming launch of the new Club WWE fan program.
One source spoken to stated that there are lofty expectations for the new Club WWE program and Cena being the “face” of the brand is meant to be a major boost to the program.
This same source spoken to reportedly also stated that it was unlikely this upcoming announcement could be a WrestleMania location announcement when asked.
WWE has been adverting that their new Club WWE fan program will feature “early access to tickets, exclusive [merchandise] drops you can’t get anywhere else, rewards for showing up and engaging, a global community [forum] and an exclusive hub, and bonus content that expands the WWE Universe even further.”
