As noted before, former WWE, ECW, and TNA wrestler Rhino is currently scheduled to be making an appearance at this week’s AEW television tapings in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan.
A recent episode of the ROAR Around The Ring podcast featured Rhino as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Rhino’s thoughts about him being hopeful of being able to share the ring with Christian Cage and Adam Copeland at tonight’s AEW Dynamite show in Detroit.
“You know what? It’s cool because they’ve always been professionals, and even before they made it, they were here wrestling on the Detroit independent scene. That’s how we met, and they’re great human beings. They work hard at everything they do and they deserve everything. To be in the ring, with them, whether you’re wrestling them or if you’re teaming with them, you’re learning something. You’re going to school. So, hopefully I’m able to be (in the ring with them) cause the last time all three of us were in the ring for a major promotion, it’s been probably two decades.”
Rhino also gave his thoughts about how he was originally planned to be part of a show during AEW’s residency stay at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2025 but weather-related issues caused those plans to be dropped.
“These kids go back and watch some of the stuff you’ve done and they’ll say, ‘Oh, I like the stuff you did with Sandman in the ECW Arena.’ That’s another thing, AEW went to the ECW Arena. I was supposed to be part of one of their shows. I’m breaking it live here, but my flight kept on getting canceled because of the weather, and what a way to top everything. To wrestle for AEW in the arena.”
In a separate recent interview with FOX 2 Detroit, Rhino gave his thoughts about his praise of AEW CEO Tony Khan for being someone who is great to work for in pro wrestling.
“A lot of the AEW stars are well-seasoned. They’re well-trained. And they’re invested not only in the product — and that’s why Tony Khan, he’s the owner-operator. He’s hands-on, he’s there, he’s making the calls. Great guy to work for. And he puts a product for families to go out and enjoy.”
