AJ Styles Comments on “I Don’t Think There Was Ever A Possibility Of Me Having A Match In TNA Again”

A recent episode of the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast featured WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Styles’ thoughts about his appearance at TNA Wrestling’s Slammiversary 2025 event and his in-ring promo segment where he praised then TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater.

“Well, I think that TNA just asked, ‘He doesn’t have to wrestle. We just wanted to come out there and have a moment with Leon Slater,’ I think the youngest X Division Champion in TNA.”

Styles also gave his thoughts if there was ever a chance of him wrestling for TNA again and his reason why that was not ever a possibility for him.

“I don’t think there was ever a possibility of me having a match in TNA, and I think I know why. Because once I did that appearance with Leon (Slater) where Chelsea Green came up to me and said, ‘Oh, I would love to go back there and have a match.’ I go, ‘Oh, that’s why I want to. I’ll never have a match over there, because once you open that door, it’s open now, and people are going to want to do it.’ So I knew after talking to Chelsea — and she wasn’t saying anything bad — she’s just saying the idea of being able to wrestle there would be great again. I knew that it never happened.”

VICE TV recently released the full “Necro Butcher vs. Samoa Joe” episode of Dark Side of the Ring on their official YouTube channel.

Former WWE talent Zelina Vega filed a new trademark for “Xelina” on July 20 for wrestling and entertainment-related purposes to the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This new term is currently expected to be Vega’s new ring name for her post-WWE career going forward.

This past Tuesday’s CMLL Martes Populares show at the Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico featured Templario issuing a challenge to Ultimo Guerrero for a Hair vs. Hair match at a future show, which Guerrero agreed.

WWE personality and former WWE commentator Pat McAfee recently announced on Twitter that he will be releasing an album titled “The Diary of a Polarizing Figure” on August 14. McAfee stated “For as long as I can remember my mere existence has made people hate my guts.. I’ve been writing songs about it for 20yrs & it’s time to let them aht.. A LOT of headlines & narratives.. if I was to die, I’d like my kids to know exactly who their dad is. 🗣🗣 AUGUST 14TH, 2026“

Video games website Giant Bomb recently released a new article featuring Kenny Omega and Austin Creed, former Xavier Woods in WWE, ranking their Top 10 video games from 2025. In the article, Woods gave his thoughts about his current break from wrestling before he officially hits free agency once his no-compete with WWE expires. Creed stated “Taking a full ass break for the first time in 22 years. It’s been great getting to relax. It’s summer, kids are out of school, have been going on hella vacations, and are enjoying just existing and sleeping well.“

As noted before, this past Tuesday’s WWE NXT show at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida featured former TNA talent Mike Santana making a surprise return appearance to NXT and his official arrival to the NXT brand. TNA recently congratulated Santana on Twitter on the official debut of his WWE career. TNA stated “Congratulations to @Santana_Proud on his monumental debut on last night’s @WWENXT!“
