As we previously reported, WWE originally planned to run the King of the Ring over a multi-week period before it was pared down to the final plan of two days. According to sources, the decision appears to have been made because of May being made a free month on the WWE Network for new subscribers.
The reason that the tournament was going to be spread out was to have Network subscribers get part of the tournament for free during April and then have to pay for May to see the conclusion, but that the addition of another free month seems to have put the kibosh on that idea.
