According to sources, the TNA World Title match from TNA iMPACT! Wrestling was originally scheduled for Slammiversary (not a big surprise). According to the source, the move was made not only due to the taping continuity issues, but because TNA felt they needed to focus on TV ratings over PPV buys to put their footing with Destination America on better ground.
TNA decided to put more marketing effort into the TV tapings, rather than focus on getting a few thousand PPV buys. Slammiversary was largely unbooked until the week before and the King of the Mountain match was booked during last week’s show.
The belief is that the PPV, which is the first live pay-per-view of the Destination America era, took place only because it was already booked months in advance and the company didn’t want to cancel it.
