AEW is in “advanced talks” with Warner Media (TNT, TBS) for a weekly TV show, according to a story by The Wrap.
They say that their inside source tells them that the deal is “definitely not signed” yet and is “not imminent.”
There were rumors yesterday that Warner Media could be presenting a weekly AEW show to advertisers at the “upfronts” on May 15, where TV networks present their lineups to advertisers. But the Wrap’s report says that that’s “not a definite.”
The report also claims that there’s a chance that the AEW show would not be year-round and could have an off-season, but Dave Meltzer said in a later report that that is not accurate.
The Wrap said that the deal would most likely see AEW come to TNT. Meltzer said that he could not confirm that, but TNT is one of the TV stations that are “in play.” He also said that there is another non-Turner group that has put a TV deal on the table.
In an interview last week, Jim Ross said that a weekly live two hour AEW show will debut on a “major network” in October.
