NXT’s Television Deal with USA Network and TakeOver Status Update
WWE’s deal with USA Network reportedly is worth around $30 million per year and is two years in length, Dave Meltzer reported on a recent Wrestling Observer Radio show. It was previously rumored that WWE was receiving about $50 million per year for NXT’s new television deal.
WWE is also currently considering the idea of holding a sixth NXT TakeOver event in 2020, WrestleVotes reported. The extra event reportedly is dependent on how well NXT performs on the USA Network. WWE currently holds five Takeover events annually for the NXT brand.
Cain Velasquez Reportedly in Talks with NJPW
Cain Velasquez held an informal meeting with New Japan Pro Wrestling officials on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi.
Raimondi reported that Velasquez and his family were in attendance at NJPW’s Super J-Cup 2019 event in San Francisco, California last night and that Velasquez held a meeting with company officials at the show. It was also reported that “several other wrestling promotions” are also currently interested in signing a potential deal with Velasquez.
Cain Velasquez is at the New Japan Super J Cup show tonight in San Francisco. Sources said he’ll be having an informal meeting with NJPW officials. Velasquez is signed on for two more Lucha Libre AAA matches, but several other wrestling promotions have interest, per sources.

NJPW Holding an Additional Event in the United States This Year
New Japan Pro Wrestling announced that they will be holding another event in the United States later this year.
This new event is called “New Japan Showdown in San Jose” and will take place on November 9th at the San Jose Civic in San Jose, California. Tickets will go on sale starting on September 13th.
