Kairi Sane’s WWE contract has expired and she’s officially a free agent.
Sane last wrestled in WWE in July 2020. Shortly after, she returned to Japan to live with her husband, who she married in February 2020.
Sane was still under contract until its recent expiration, and WWE reportedly wanted to renew her deal and have her return to the ring, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. But Sane reportedly didn’t want to move back to the US, and back-and-forth travel to Japan isn’t currently viable because of COVID.
It’s possible that Sane returns to the ring for another promotion in Japan now that her WWE deal is over. In February of this year, she requested permission to work Stardom’s 10th anniversary show, but WWE denied her. Sane, under the name Kairi Hojo, wrestled in Stardom from 2011-2017 before signing with WWE.
