Marko Stunt is reportedly done with AEW and received a call last week informing him that his contract will not be renewed when it expires in May, according to Fightful Select.
Stunt was called by Christopher Daniels, who does talent relations for AEW. Daniels reportedly told Stunt that AEW’s large roster and “budget cuts” were reasons why his deal wasn’t being renewed. A change of plans for Jurassic Express was also mentioned as a reason.
Fightful added that the conversation “went well” and the split was “amicable.”
Stunt reportedly suffered a concussion in October, but when he was ready to return, he reached out to AEW in an attempt to get back on the show and “prove himself,” but was not booked or given a reason why he was kept off of TV.
Joey Janela also recently said that his AEW contract will not be renewed when it expires on May 1 and mentioned Stunt, saying, “They don’t communicate with me. They did the same thing to Marko Stunt. They just stopped talking to him.”
Stunt had been with AEW since their first show, competing in the Casino Battle Royale at Double or Nothing in May 2019.
