As noted before, Santana has been out of action for AEW since suffering a knee injury at AEW’s Dynamite Blood & Guts 2022 event this past June.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Santana recently told others that he had suffered a torn ACL injury. It was reported that Santana was seen walking in crutches at a wrestling event in Puerto Rico this weekend and relinquished a championship belt he held with the promotion due to his injury. It was also reported that AEW officials currently expect Santana to be out of action for the next eight to twelve months.
In regards to Ortiz, it was reported that their sources within AEW stated that AEW officials currently plan to continue to use Ortiz on AEW television and there have been no plans regarding the idea of halting his appearances while Santana is away.
In regards to the future of Santana and Ortiz as a tag team, it was reported that there have been recent rumors of them no longer being on good terms with each other and prior to Santana’s injury, Ortiz had been accepting bookings in the indies for singles work.
