As noted before, Mercedes Mone has been out of action for New Japan Pro Wrestling and Stardom since this past May due to an ankle injury. Mone’s contract with NJPW and Stardom is currently believed to have expired while AEW’s is believed to not have any active plans for a potential signing due to monetary-related issues.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Mone and WWE had been in active back-and-forth talks for a potential return to the company but these talks were recently dropped.
Those spoken to within WWE reportedly stated that the two sides “were no longer in negotiations regarding a return.” The reason is currently believed to be due to Mone’s current asking price for any new deal being much higher than what WWE will be paying Charlotte Flair for her new contract with the company, which is one of the largest ever for a woman in WWE history.
It was reported that one source within WWE stated that they currently believe that Mone would be appearing elsewhere “imminently” following the company’s dropped talks with her. This same source reportedly did not specify where they think Mone will likely be appearing next.
