CM Punk suffered a torn triceps injury at this past Saturday’s Royal Rumble 2024 event in St. Petersburg, Florida and will miss WrestleMania 40 due to him currently expected to be out of action for at least the next four to six months.
Fightful Select reported that their sources denied being true the recent online rumors about WWE officials had planned for Punk to win the Men’s Royal Rumble match and called an audible for Cody Rhodes to win instead due to Punk getting hurt.
It was reported that WWE officials had always planned for Rhodes to win the Men’s Royal Rumble match.
WWE officials reportedly did change some of their original plans for this past Monday’s RAW show due to Punk’s injury. Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes’ promo segment involving Rollins asking Rhodes to chose him for his WrestleMania 40 opponent instead of Roman Reigns was not originally planned for the show.
