As noted before, Becky Lynch’s contract with WWE is set to expire on June 1st and she is expected to be taking a break from WWE and wrestling afterwards.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources confirmed that Lynch’s contract officially expired at midnight and she is currently a free agent. Sapp reported that those spoken to stated that no new deal has been reached between Lynch and WWE officials for a potential new contract.
Sapp reported that those spoken to within WWE praised the way Lynch has handled her contract situation and called her “class” to work with throughout the process. Sapp also reported that this was part of why WWE officials had no qualms about making her their Women’s World Champion in the final weeks of her deal.
Lynch reportedly had informed the company a while ago that she ended to take some time off after her contract ended.
In regards to Lynch potentially signing a deal with another company, Sapp reported that there have been no signs of Lynch planning to sign elsewhere but she is expected to receive some big offers. The current expectation reportedly is that Lynch will ultimately sign a new deal that would be the most lucrative deal for a female wrestler in the pro wrestling industry.
