Since its founding in 2019, AEW has traditionally held their annual Double or Nothing event during the month of May and in Las Vegas, Nevada with two exceptions. These exceptions were in 2020 and 2021 due to issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic at the time. The 2020 and 2021 events took place at AEW’s home venue of Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida instead.
Figthful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported in a recent Q&A article that his sources stated that AEW officials have not had any plans for some time for this year’s event to take place in Las Vegas.
Sapp reported that it is currently not known if this year’s event will still be taking place during its traditional Memorial Day weekend spot but the event is currently not planned to take place in Las Vegas on that weekend based on those last spoken to.
Sapp also reported that WWE holding this year’s WrestleMania 41 event in Las Vegas just a few weeks earlier from Double or Nothing’s usual traditional date has been a major factor in AEW’s decision. AEW officials reportedly feel that this could make ticket sales difficult for their own event if it was held in the city.
