Backstage Update on Reason for Kamille’s AEW Abscense
As noted before, Kamille has been absent from AEW programming since this past November.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources stated that Kamille was “benched” for the last six months but a return is currently not likely anytime soon. Those spoken to stated that the reason why Kamille is not expected to return soon is due to her currently being involved in a television project that will keep her busy throughout this summer.
Sapp reported that most talent spoken to stated that they were kept “in the dark” regarding the real reason behind Kamille’s lengthy abscense.
One potential reason for Kamille’s benching reportedly was due to AEW CEO Tony Khan was not a fan of the program between Kamille and Mercedes Mone due to him feeling that it was not working. Khan reportedly did not want Mone to face Kamille in a big match and scrapped the idea. Those spoken to reportedly clarified that Mone was willing to work with Kamille
MJF’s Backstage Perception Reportedly Has Improved Over Past Year
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported in a recent Q&A article that his sources stated that MJF’s perception and reputation within AEW has improved a lot over the past none or ten months. Sapp reported that MJF has worked hard to help improve his perception within the company.
Prior to the improvement, Sapp reported that MJF had been dealing with a backstage perception that was not great. Sapp speculated a lot of it came with him being the top singles act, top tag team act, and the main guy getting promo time all at once in the company.
Elayna Black (Cora Jade) Comments on How She Thought She Was Going To End Up In AEW Before WWE Made An Offer
A recent episode of The Ariel Helwani Show featured Elayna Black, former Cora Jade in WWE, as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Black’s thoughts about how she had thought she was going to end up in AEW after working several AEW Dark matches before WWE made an offer to her in 2020.
“I was doing AEW for a few weeks, or a month or two, before my WWE tryout and I thought I was going to end up at AEW. I did a few dark matches. I loved it there. I thought I was going to end up there first. It was the end of 2020, I was kind of picking up steam on the indies and people were doing Dark. I felt like I was going to end up there, and I wanted to end up there. I’m very big into manifestation. This is embarrassing to say now, but I made a fake Elayna Black Is All Elite logo. I put it above my bed so whenever I went to bed, I would manifest before bed. Then it just ended up being, I got the WWE tryout the same month I was doing AEW and WWE made me an offer before AEW, so I took it. Either way, I knew I wanted to be in a big wrestling company. I’ve been a lifelong WWE fan, so I wanted to be there as well, but I knew at that time I was manifesting something and I was always going to end up somewhere.”
