Maven Comments on Him Being Retired From Wrestling But Is Open to Having Another Match

A recent episode of the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast featured former WWE wrestler Maven as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Maven’s thoughts about if he still views himself as a wrestler.

“No. In a grocery store a few months back, and normally somebody comes up to me [and says], ‘You’re that guy who won Tough Enough.’ Yeah, yeah. I had somebody come up to me and say, ‘You’re that guy that talks about wrestling and answers questions on YouTube, aren’t you?’ And I was like, I suppose I am. But I’m fine with that. I’m okay with ageing. I’m okay with I just can’t do what I used to do, and I’m okay with advancing into just the next parts of my life. I’ve watched these guys now. They’re so much more athletic than I was, and obviously am now. Yeah, I’m perfectly fine with not being a wrestler anymore.”

Maven also gave his thoughts about him being open to the idea of potentially having another match in the future.

“I mean, if the situation was right, of course. And last night, taking 70 bumps proved that physically, I could at least get through it. I don’t think if somebody said, Hey, we got a three-year storyline, I don’t know if I could do that, but I definitely would keep it open. As far as in this business, you know, never say never.”

Athena reached the milestone of 1,000 days for her current reign as ROH Women’s World Champion as of Friday. Athena’s “Forever Champion” reign has been the longest ever reign for a champion in Ring of Honor history.

Thursday was the 30th anniversary of the debut episode of WCW Nitro, which took place at The Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Thursday’s HOG Philadelphia event for House of Glory in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania featured Zilla Fatu defeating Bully Ray to become the new HOG Crown Jewel Champion.

Paramount Pictures recently announced the official cast for their upcoming live action Street Fighter film confirming WWE’s Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns and NJPW’s Hirooki Goto being among the cast. Rhodes was confirmed to be portraying Guile, Reigns was confirmed to be portraying Akuma, and Goto was confirmed to be portraying as E. Honda in the film. It was also announced that the film will be released in theaters on October 26, 2026.
