This Saturday’s WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event show in Montreal, Quebec, Canada is currently scheduled to feature an Undisputed WWE Championship #1 Contender’s match between Randy Orton, Trick Williams, Damian Priest, and Sami Zayn. The winner of this match will be facing off against Drew McIntyre for the title at next week’s Royal Rumble 2026 event in Saudi Arabia.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that WWE officials current have tentative plans for Zayn to compete in a world championship match ahead of this April’s WrestleMania 42 event.
It was reported that WWE officials held discussions about potential plans for Zayn throughout their recent European tour.
It was reportedly stated that at one point, the Royal Rumble was discussed as a potential event for Zayn’s title shot but those spoken to reiterated that the match was “likely before WrestleMania.” It was also reported that due to the creative shift within WWE in recent weeks, it is currently not known if that plan for Zayn is still in motion.
One source spoken to within WWE reportedly stated that the plans for Zayn was part of a long-term story that several members of WWE’s creative had been aiming to reach and specifically dating back to Zayn’s feud with Karrion Kross in 2025.
