As noted before, CM Punk, Damian Priest, and several other WWE talents were involved in several incidents with fans during this past WrestleMania 42 weekend at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. WWE Hall of Famer Sean “X-Pac” Waltman also revealed that he was also stalked and assaulted by fans during WrestleMania 42 weekend at the same hotel.
A recent episode of the Hall of Fame with Booker T & Brad Gilmore podcast featured co-host and WWE Hall of Famer Booker T giving his thoughts about his issues with fans behavior at this past WrestleMania 42 weekend in Las Vegas.
“I want to put a fan address out here. The fans were off the chain in Las Vegas. I love my fans, I really do, but I’m going to tell you right now: you guys really need to understand what the guys go through sometimes and give them that space. After the show, you see them working like crazy, and then they come in and you disrespect them when they’re with their kids, wives, and families. Then, something happens, one of the guys gets upset, and you hear about it on social media. We’re human. After a show like that. The show is over. Give the guys a little bit of a break and space. It’s taxing, it truly is.
Walking through MGM Grand, we need some better security. It was really hard. I can only imagine what the superstars, how they felt, because I got mobbed and I’m not even doing this anymore. Hopefully, we can get that fixed. I wish we would’ve had better security. It was really bad, the worst I’ve ever seen.”
A recent episode of the 520 Podcast featured Je’Von Evans and Jade Cargill as the guests. One of the topics discussed included Evans and Cargill’s thoughts about the situation with fan behavior issues during WrestleMania 42 weekend.
Je’Von Evans – “It’s very difficult, but I always remember being younger and not being able to buy WrestleMania tickets or like wrestling tickets in general. I was happy just to see a wrestler walking around, that would have made my day. I always kind of put myself in that situation and anytime I get to chat up with a fan, I usually do unless they doing too much or I’m in a rush or I’m in a bad mood. It is very difficult but it’s very cool too, you’re building a connection with fans.”
Jade Cargill – “
Jade Cargill pitched in and described the situation in Las Vegas as “very overwhelming”.
“What they do is people get their kids to [ask] to sign the autographs. The parent is right there, it’s 4:00 in the morning at the airport. Why is your kid here, they have school. What are we doing? But no, I appreciate our fans. If anything, it shows us that what we’re doing is worthwhile because people don’t see the dark side of wrestling as far as the travel. Traveling is so tough, dealing with all of the other things, we have families and all kinds of other stuff. The fact that fans show up and spend their hard earned money and stand in line for hours to just shake our hand and let us see their face, it means the world. But, it was very overwhelming this weekend. They were all in the lobbies and things like that. We have appearances, we have signings and if you want to see us, just come to our meet and greets. But, I’m going to stop when I have time. We’re going to do that, we’re going to make time. But the majority of the time, we’re rushing and we’re going left and right. I think we did the best that we could do with all of the mobs that was going on in the hotel.”
Drew McIntyre also responded to certain fans acting disrespectful towards wrestlers during WrestleMania 42 weekend.
“For those fans who spent hard earned money on a chance to say hello, take a photo, have something signed, or give me one of my many, many bracelets, I appreciate each and every single one of you. To those who rushed my family and I in the hotel, kept your kids up till 2am throwing them in front of us, or shoved a camera in my face without asking, you’re lucky I’m a calm natured person outside the ring. Please don’t do that ever again.”
