As noted before, New Day’s Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston departed from WWE earlier this month following a mutual decision from both sides over New Day not accepting a new restructured deal offer to stay in the company. Following their departures, Woods and Kingston had been generating a lot of interest from within AEW as a potential next destination for their wrestling careers.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that almost one dozen sources spoken to reportedly stated that they want Woods and Kingston to sign with AEW. Sapp reported that none spoken to so far was against the idea of the duo signing with the company.
Sapp reported that a “number of big names” in AEW have been making an internal push for Woods and Kingston to join the company.
Sapp also reported that both Woods and Kingston are universally respected and are highly expected to join AEW once their 90 days no-compete clauses with WWE expires.
Woods is currently going by the ring name of Austin Creed he had used outside of WWE whle Kingston is going by the ring name of just Kofi.
