As noted before, New Japan Pro Wrestling’s parent company Bushiroad announced this past Wednesday that their Board of Directors agreed to transfer all of the company’s shares in NJPW to TV Asashi and CyberAgent Inc. Busiroad’s ownership stake in Stardom was not involved and they will remain as Stardom’s parent company.
Tokyo Sports held a recent interview with Stardom President Taro Okada. One of the topics discussed included Okada’s thoughts about him currently expecting the working relationship between NJPW and Stardom to continue and “coordination between the two sides will start from here.”
It was reported that an unnamed spokesperson spoken to stated that Bushiroad’s deal was made “to further strengthen cooperation in the development and rollout of content and IP, and to work together to create powerful content and IP with an eye toward global expansion, thereby further increasing the corporate value of both companies.”
Prior to the announcement, Bushiroad had been NJPW’s owner since its acquisition in 2012. Bushiroad has been Stardom’s owner since its acquisition in 2019.
