Dan Martson held a recent interview with Chris Jericho. One of the topics discussed included Jericho’s thoughts about how he feels responsible to entertain the people that appreciate his work in all areas of entertainment.
“I still love doing cool things that people who appreciate my work will think is cool. I have a great — I take great responsibility in entertaining people that appreciate Chris Jericho’s work but not just in wrestling, not just in music, but as many different ways as I can. To me, that’s exciting. Creativity, I need to be stimulated and be motivated. So, that’s one reason.”
Jericho also gave his thoughts about him not being the type of person to retire from everything and just go plant flowers for the rest of his life.
“Two, I got a lot of fans and friends. People who appreciate what I do and can’t wait to see what I’m doing next. Whether it’s the Jericho cruise or its Talk Is Jericho or if I’m on Dexter or we’re doing Fozzy. We played yesterday at Sonic Temple in Columbus, there was 50,000 people for our show. Afterwards, I found out that the Way brothers from MCR are huge Jericho fans. They waited in line to meet me when they were kids and here they are headlining this massive festival with My Chemical Romance. It’s cool to see how I’m influenced by these guys, but then I’ve influenced those guys and it all kind of blends in together in a really cool, creative, and respectful soup. What am I going to do, retire from doing everything and go take this box and put it over there and grow flowers for the rest of my life? So, I have no intentions of slowing down. I might not be wrestling forever, nor do I want to be, but you can play music until you’re in your 80s and you can act and you can do podcasts and you can do a lot of cool shit. That’s what I plan to continue doing.”
