As noted before, Warner Bros Discovery announced this past April that their shareholders had voted in approval of Paramount Skydance’s acquisition deal for the company. WBD is the current media broadcast partner of AEW.
Politico reported that the United States Department of Justice has officially approved Paramount’s acquisition deal for WBD.
It was reported that DOJ officials had determined after an extensive review that Paramount’s transaction deal “did not pose a threat to competition and declined to challenge it, said the people, who were granted anonymity to discuss sensitive matters.”
It was also reported that the DOJ also “approved the merger without requiring any divestitures, behavioral remedies or concessions, according to one of the people.”
It was also reported that Paramount’s acquisition deal could still face legal challenges from state attorneys general but it is currently on track to be completed this September.
