Maya World Comments on Her Match Against Mercedes Mone at Forbidden Door 2026
As noted before, this past June’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2026 event in San Jose, California featured Mercedes Mone defeating Maya World in the Finals of the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup to become the winner of this year’s tournament.
A recent virtual fan signing event for Highspots featured World as the guest. One of the topics discussed included World’s thoughts about her match against Mone being the highlight of her wrestling career so far and being in the ring with Mone being a feeling she will be chasing for the rest of her career.
“Oh, definitely. It probably won’t be a blip. Mercedes is like my idol, so, honestly, probably one of the things I’ll probably be chasing — that feeling — of being in the ring with her the rest of my career. But, yeah, it was an amazing time.”

The National Eating Disorders organization defines Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) as “a new diagnosis in the DSM-5, and represents a reformulation of what used to be called “Feeding Disorder of Infancy or Early Childhood.” Individuals with ARFID limit the volume and/or variety of foods they consume, but unlike the other eating disorders, food avoidance or restriction is not related to fears of fatness or distress about body shape, size or weight. Instead, in ARFID, selective eating is motivated by a lack of interest in eating or food, sensory sensitivity (e.g., strong reactions to taste, texture, smell of foods), and/or a fear of aversive consequences (e.g., of choking or vomiting).”
AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2026 & Early PPV Buys Estimates
AEW reportedly drew an attendance of 9,082 for their co-promoted AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2026 event at the SAP Center in San Jose, California, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported that the attendance was the largest ever for a non-WWE wrestling event in the city of San Jose.
Meltzer also reported that while he currently does not have an early estimate for the pay-per-view buys, some numbers available have indicated that Forbidden Door 2026 could end up being the lowest for an AEW event in 2026.
Meltzer reported that those spoken to stated that the PPV buys from HBO MAX were comparable to this past April’s Dynasty 2026 event, which did around 145,000 buys. Meltzer speculated that Forbidden Door’s numbers would likely be a bit lower overall based on other distributors numbers were down.
