Rhea Ripley’s Meniscus Tear Injury Update – Ripley Underwent Surgery

As noted before, WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley has been out of action for WWE since this past May’s Clash In Italy event due to a knee injury that was later revealed to be a meniscus tear. During her time away, WWE crowned an Interim WWE Women’s Champion at this past Sunday’s SummerSlam 2026 Night 2 event following Chelsea Green winning the interim title in a Ladder match.

Ripley provided an update earlier today on Instagram revealing that she had underwent surgery to repair her right knee.

After just under 14 year in wrestling and doing sports my entire life… It’s caught up to me. Surgery was never a first option for me, but it got to the point that it was needed…

Hopefully no more…

I’ve survived, now it’s time to start thriving again so I can get back to what I love to do!

In regards to the status of Ripley’s current reign as WWE Women’s Champion, the Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez reported that his sources stated that there have been “rumblings” within WWE that Ripley could end up vacating her title and Green to become the official new champion. Alvarez reported that more information regarding the status of the WWE Women’s title is currently expected to come by this Friday’s WWE SmackDown show.
