WWE: Charlotte Injury Update, Shane McMahon OK? New John Cena Movies

Charlotte Flair Injury

WWE announced tonight that Charlotte Flair was pulled from her Mixed Match Challenge match due to an undisclosed injury.

Charlotte actually underwent minor oral surgery for a mouth infection last Wednesday, according to the Wrestling Observer, so WWE pulled her from the show this week. She had also been scheduled to wrestle Natalya again on SmackDown.

WWE announced that she’ll be back on Mixed Match Challenge next week. She was replaced by Becky Lynch, who won a fan vote tonight, and Lynch and Bobby Roode won to advance the team to the finals. Charlotte will be back as Roode’s partner next week, and her WrestleMania match against Asuka is also obviously still on.

Shane McMahon OK for WrestleMania?

It appears that Shane McMahon will be OK for WrestleMania after all, unless WWE is swerving us.

Daniel Bryan announced on SmackDown tonight that he and Shane will face Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at WrestleMania.

Shane McMahon was hospitalized with diverticulitis and WWE said that he would also need to undergo surgery for an umbilical hernia after the diverticulitis infection subsided.

Tom Philips said on SmackDown that Shane had been discharged from the hospital and that they would keep everyone updated on his status, so it is possible that WWE could change things if Shane actually isn’t OK to go.

John Cena Movies

John Cena will be part of the cast for a new Dr. Dolittle movie (The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle) along with Robert Downey Jr. and a bunch of other people. He’ll be doing voice work as a talking animal. The movie will be released on April 12, 2019.

Cena has also been rumored to play Duke Nukem in an upcoming movie based on the classic video game. The movie’s producer had this to say about Cena playing the title role: “Yeah, that’s what we’re working with now. He is. Yes. We don’t have a script yet, so that is confirmed at this point but if he reads the script and he doesn’t like the script I’m sure there’s ways that he could pull out, but right now he’s our guy.”
